As they say, the world is your oyster, and this becomes true when you are an international student at the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences.
Vishal Pardessi, a first-year student of the Bachelor’s program in Creativity and Business Innovation was amongst our international students who participated in the Ülemiste Smart City Job Shadowing Day this April. Every spring Ülemiste City organizes job shadowing days for companies on the campus to fill in internships, summer jobs, and permanent job positions.
Vishal has been successful in getting a 6-month paid internship placement at Hitachi Energy Estonia AS. Despite his previous experience being in the field of sales and marketing, Vishal had researched the companies participating and chose to work in the Supply Chain department. It is quite exciting that both the company and the student were first-time participants at the Ülemiste Smart City Job Shadowing Day. It was also a happy coincidence that Vishal’s supervisor turned out to be Krisper Jan Pärn, a EUAS student pursuing Logistics.
Vishal presented himself so well during the sessions and discussions that he was offered a full-time job right away. However, keeping his studies as a priority, it was decided that Vishal would now be taking up only an internship. The company happily supported his decision.
When asked, Vishal mentioned that his first semester subjects, namely, Management and Organisational Creativity, helped him a lot during this experience. The knowledge that he got academically aided him to present himself in the practical scenario as well. He also added that people in Estonia are extremely friendly, open to the world, and welcoming, and international students who are planning to come to Estonia should stay positive and be well prepared for any moment. He said that students should be open to different opportunities that come their way.
